Iāve been reading The Laws of Human Nature for the last few weeks. I particularly liked the below sentence as it describes a lot of our bias to outwardly seek to justify why things arenāt going our way. It is often far easier to lie to ourselves and distort the true picture to protect our self-esteem.

I finished Poor Charlieās Almanack this week and itās one of the best books Iāve ever read. If you think itās just about business youād be mistaken. It touches on worldly wisdom, mental frameworks, living life and developing principles and virtues. His most famous talk in the book is chapter 11 called The Psychology of Human Misjudgment which is based on 25 mental biases we need to be wary of if we want to have an easier and better life. Iāve been going through Paul Grahamās Essays recently and particularly enjoyed "Superlinear Returnsā.
āTeachers and coaches implicitly told us the returns were linear. "You get out," I heard a thousand times, "what you put in." They meant well, but this is rarely true. If your product is only half as good as your competitor's, you don't get half as many customers. You get no customers, and you go out of business.ā
