Thank you for sharing a very personal story, I’m sure it wasn’t easy to open up. Your post helped me continue my slow march in learning about how the world ticks, and writing about a subject I care about, 1 subscriber at a time I suppose. Cheers

Hey Nick, thanks for the kind words. I think perspective is important here. A few subscribers a day over a year matters.

What matters even more is how engaged those subscribers are. Providing them with advice about how the world ticks sounds like a great idea to me 👍

Nice article Karl! First one I’ve read of yours but I subscribed now.

I was recently on holiday in Greece (Naxos and Ios), and writing came easier there. A lot of the early Greek philosophers spent a lot of time out on the ocean, thinking and writing. Here we are doing the same.

Do you have any good book recommendations? I’ve read Seneca’s work before

Look forward to what’s to come!

Hey Stefano, thank you for the kind words. Greece is a beautiful country and it’s rich with a lot of interesting history luckily for us!

- Endurance by Alfred Lansing

- Heart of Darkness by Joesph Conrad

- Outlaw Ocean by Ian Urbina

Three amazing stories that centre on exploration (The Antarctic, Congo and the oceans)
